Hot Yoga Teacher Training Deposit: Tripaneer Decision Guide

By Ian Terry, E-RYT 500 · Updated

Hot yoga teacher training deposit support for YogaFX students in a Bali studio
YogaFX can review evidence of a deposit paid through a Tripaneer platform and explain whether course credit may be available.

If you paid a hot yoga teacher training deposit through Tripaneer, BookYogaRetreats or BookYogaTeacherTraining, the first question is simple: who actually took your money? Check the payee on your receipt. If it names Tripaneer or one of its brands, your deposit is part of a bankruptcy and may not be repaid in full, so work through the steps below and get any offer in writing.

We built this page as a decision guide. Answer a few questions about your receipt, your booking and your goals, and it points you to the right next step. We checked it against public records on 6 October 2026. Mr. Ian Terry, E-RYT 500, founded YogaFX in 2017.

What the public record says about the Tripaneer bankruptcy

The District Court of Amsterdam lists Tripaneer B.V. under file number F.13/26/306. ClaimsAgent names the trustee as mr V.G.M. Leferink, and you can confirm the case in the Dutch Central Insolvency Register. The company's about page lists BookYogaRetreats and BookYogaTeacherTraining among its brands.

The two bankruptcy dates differ slightly between sources, and the difference does not change your steps. The BookRetreats host guide gives 1 October.

How a Tripaneer deposit worked, and why it matters

According to BookRetreats' summary, a guest paid a deposit to Tripaneer that was at least as large as Tripaneer's commission, and paid the balance to the host directly. Tripaneer passed the deposit to the host, minus commission, one to two business days after the guest arrived.

That means a hot yoga teacher training deposit for a course you had not yet attended was probably still with Tripaneer when it failed. The host may never have received it, which is why many hosts are unpaid creditors too.

The checklist if your payee was Tripaneer or a Tripaneer brand

  1. Save your proof. Keep the confirmation, receipt and statement together.
  2. Write to your host. Ask whether your booking stands and whether they received any of your money.
  3. Ask your bank or card provider. Rules and time limits differ, so ask for the deadline early.
  4. Read your insurance. Look for supplier failure or insolvency wording.
  5. Consider a claim. The ClaimsAgent route is free and registers you as a creditor.
  6. Be careful with paid recovery offers. The official route does not charge you.
  7. Ask a school for a written credit offer if you still want to train.

Doing these in order takes an evening, and none of it commits you to anything. It simply gives your hot yoga teacher training deposit the best chance of being recovered or credited.

Why the bankruptcy outcome is uncertain

A trustee takes control of the company, collects or sells its assets and distributes the proceeds in a legal order. Customers who paid for services not yet delivered are usually unsecured creditors. They get money back only if some remains. BookRetreats reports that the trustee has said claims for bookings not yet taken cannot currently be paid. The first creditors' meeting on 9 December 2026 may bring more information, but it is not a payout date.

How YogaFX may credit a verified hot yoga deposit

YogaFX may be able to give full credit for the verified deposit you paid, applied to the next available eligible YogaFX Yoga Teacher Training course in Bali. We review your confirmation and proof of payment, and if a credit can apply we confirm the amount, course, dates, balance and conditions in writing before you decide.

It is a course credit, not a cash refund. We review each request individually, so we cannot promise approval. If you later receive money from a bank, insurer or the trustee, please tell us so the credit stays accurate.

A worked example

A verified deposit of US$300 against a US$1,899 early bird course would leave US$1,599 to pay under a full credit. The figures are illustrative, not a quotation.

What the Bali training involves

The YogaFX course is a hybrid: online study at home, then a 6-day intensive MasterClass in Seminyak, Bali, at Soham Wellness Center. The next intake checks in on Sunday 24 January 2027 and checks out on Friday 29 January 2027. Graduates receive the Yoga Alliance RYT 200-Hour credential and the Bikram Hot 26&2 200-Hour International Yoga Certification. The certification program page sets out what each stage covers.

The online pre-course comes first, at home and at your own pace.

YogaFX is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School, visible on its public profile. Training and registering as a teacher are separate steps, and we confirm the current requirements with you first. You can compare the online side in the online hot yoga deposit guide and the preparation route in the money-flow guide for online preparation students. The YogaFX home page gives the overview.

Why you can check YogaFX

Questions to ask before you pay anyone again

  • Who holds my deposit, and where?
  • What is the transfer policy if dates change?
  • Can I verify the school on a public directory?
  • Who teaches, and what can I verify about them?
  • Is everything confirmed in writing, including the balance and its due date?

Asking these questions is not distrust. It is how both sides plan with confidence.

Three common situations, and what each person can do

You paid only a deposit and have not started

This is the case the bankruptcy affects most. Your hot yoga teacher training deposit was probably still with Tripaneer, so follow the checklist above, file a claim if you wish, and ask your bank about its rules. If you still want the training, a school credit may be the quickest route back, subject to review.

You paid the balance to the host as well

Then the host holds that money, not Tripaneer. Write to them and ask for written confirmation that your booking stands, what they received and what they will honour. Some hosts offer goodwill such as a new date, though they are not obliged to, so treat any offer as a kindness and keep it in writing.

You already attended the training

Tripaneer passed deposits to hosts after arrival, so your payment may already have reached them. Ask the host to confirm. If something is still outstanding, keep your documents and consider a claim.

A timeline you can follow

DateEventWhat it means for you
28 September 2026Preliminary suspension of paymentsThe company stopped paying creditors normally
30 September 2026Bankruptcy judgment per ClaimsAgentA trustee took control
9 December 2026, 10:30First creditors' meetingThe next fixed date, not a payout date
24 January 2027Next YogaFX intake checks inDecisions about dates may be needed earlier

Notice the gap between early October and the December meeting. You do not have to wait for it to protect your position, because bank and insurer deadlines run separately.

What a good written offer looks like

Whichever school you speak to about your hot yoga teacher training deposit, ask for the offer in writing. It should state the amount and currency of any credit, the course name and dates, the balance and its due date, the rules for changing dates and how any later refund from a third party will be treated. If any item is missing, ask before you pay or travel. Clear terms let both sides plan, and a short, honest email now prevents a long misunderstanding later.

Why a hot yoga teacher training deposit is easy to misplace

A hot yoga teacher training deposit is usually a small part of the total price, so people file the email and forget it. Then months pass, the platform fails, and the only proof is a line on a bank statement. If that is you, start with the statement. It shows the payee, the amount and the date. That is most of what anyone will ask.

Next, search your inbox for the platform names. Look for the booking confirmation, the receipt and any message from the host. If you cannot find them, ask your bank for a copy of the transaction record, and ask the host to resend the confirmation. Missing paperwork is common and fixable. Your hot yoga teacher training deposit is still worth tracking down.

Finally, write down in one paragraph what you bought, when you paid, how much and what the seller promised you. That summary becomes the first lines of every email you send, whether it goes to a bank, an insurer, a trustee or a school.

A short email you can send today

Most people put off writing because they don't know what to say. So here is a plain template. Copy it, fill in the brackets, and send it to your host first. Then adapt it for your bank or card provider.

Subject: Booking [reference], deposit paid via Tripaneer

Hello [host name]. I booked [course name] for [dates] and paid a deposit of [amount] through [platform] on [date]. Please confirm in writing whether my booking still stands, whether you received any part of my payment, and what you can offer if the course goes ahead. I have attached my confirmation and receipt. Thank you.

Keep it short and factual. Long emails get skimmed, and emotional ones get delayed. If you don't hear back within a week, send a polite reminder and keep both emails with your records.

What to send your bank or card provider

  • Your booking confirmation and receipt.
  • The date you paid and the amount, in the original currency.
  • A short note that the platform is in bankruptcy, with the file number F.13/26/306.
  • Any reply from your host, even if it says nothing useful.

Banks often set a time limit for disputes, so ask about the deadline in your first message rather than your second. That one question can protect your hot yoga teacher training deposit more than anything else on this page.

Rebuilding your plan to become a hot yoga teacher

Losing a hot yoga teacher training deposit can feel like losing a year. It does not have to. Many people use the pause to ask what they want from teacher training: a personal deepening, a career change, or a way to teach in their own community. The answer shapes which course, format and timing make sense.

If the goal is to teach the Bikram Hot 26&2 method, look for a school where the lead trainer's experience is verifiable. YogaFX publishes Mr. Ian Terry's credentials, its Yoga Alliance profile and its student reviews so you can check them before you commit.

FAQ

Did I pay Tripaneer, or did I pay my hot yoga teacher training host?

Check your receipt and bank statement. If the payee is Tripaneer, BookYogaRetreats or BookYogaTeacherTraining, you paid the company now in bankruptcy. If the payee is the host or school itself, your deposit sits with them and the bankruptcy may not affect it.

Will I get my Tripaneer deposit back?

Nobody can promise that. The trustee has reportedly said the company cannot currently pay claims for bookings not yet taken, and it is too early to say more. Filing a free claim, asking your bank and reading your insurance keep your options open.

Can YogaFX credit my Tripaneer deposit toward hot yoga teacher training?

YogaFX may be able to give full credit for a verified deposit toward the next available eligible course in Bali. We review each request individually and confirm everything in writing. It is a course credit, not a cash refund.

Is BookRetreats part of the Tripaneer bankruptcy?

BookRetreats says it is a separate, independent company with no connection to Tripaneer or its brands. If your receipt names BookRetreats, contact that platform and your host instead of assuming your booking belongs to the Tripaneer case.

Should I book hot yoga teacher training with a new school right now?

Only after you have your documents in order and a written offer that states price, dates, balance and cancellation terms. There is no need to rush, though the 24 January 2027 intake means decisions about dates may come before the trustee reports.

This guide is general information, not legal or financial advice, and it may change as the trustee publishes updates. Please consult a qualified adviser about your own circumstances.
